Dr Pawan Sharma has been associated with the Law Commission of India for about three decades serving in various capacities including Secretary to the Commission, Joint Secretary and Law Officer (Indian Legal Service). Her contributions to the Commission's Reports such as child marriage, shared parentage, coparcenary property rights, compulsory marriage registration, right to education, and others dealing with women issues have been well appreciated and acknowledged. Apart from contributing to the Commission's agenda, her writings and articles published in various journals on issues relating to women and children have received wide acclaim. In 2017, she released her book, “Journey of the Women Law Reforms and the Law Commission of India: Some Insights”, which traced the history and journey of the Commission’s efforts towards reforming India’s legal system to be more inclusive for women.
